Orphan Sponsorship

Hands on Africa has orphanages in Zambia, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Kenya. Hands on Africa's work with orphans ensures that their basic physical needs for food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and education are being met. Furthermore, Hands on Africa seeks to meet each child's spiritual needs by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and providing them with Christian training and discipleship.

When you sign up to sponsor a child, you will receive a prayer card that includes a photo, name, and a few basic details about your child.

Due to unreliable postal services in the countries where we work, letters are hand-delivered, which means that correspondence is dependent on when we have people traveling to and from each country. This allows us to personally deliver your letter to your child, while also ensuring that your child’s letter makes it to you.Do not discuss sending additional gifts/money with your child. While they may ask you for specific things, Hands on Africa does not allow sponsors to send individual gifts to their children

You will receive a card from your sponsor child and updated photo every year.
If your child leaves the program or graduates, we will notify you as soon as we can. We will also automatically reassign you to a child in need of a sponsor, at which point you can ask to change to a different child or cancel the sponsorship.

To equally love and care for each of the children we serve without showing partiality, Hands on Africa does not allow sponsors to send individual gifts to their sponsor children. It’s not a problem to add stickers or a coloring page with your letter, but please refrain from sending any larger items to your child. If you wish to give an additional monetary gift beyond your monthly sponsorship donation, the money will be put into a fund which provide for a need of that orphanage which is not covered by sponsorships and the whole home can enjoy together. You may also support the ministry project as a whole, as we seek to love and serve each child in our care. Any additional gift donations can be made by check or online. Please make sure to indicate that it is a special gift.

You can send a payment totaling the full yearly sponsorship or alternatively send postdated checks for each month. You can also set up a recurring payment on our website using Paypal. We are also using Zelle as a very reliable platform which does not include any extra fees.

We understand that your circumstances and giving budget may change, so you can cancel your sponsorship at any time. You may cancel the sponsorship through email or just give us a call. We ask that you give at least one month’s notice so we can update the records and try to find a new sponsor for your child
