Our ministry, originating from pastoral training, now spans seven African campuses. In partnership with Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary, we provide Associate, Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees in Theology.
We prioritize accessible theological education, with 75% of tuition sponsored. Our journey began in Kenya (2000), partnering with Baptist Theological Seminary in Cape Town, leading to our first graduates in 2002. In 2003, we partnered with Jacksonville Baptist Seminary for Bachelor's degrees, and in 2012, celebrated our first Master's graduates, some now serving as lecturers.
God's work is evident. Our seminaries have equipped countless individuals, impacting many lives. In 2013, Christopher Onyango's teaching in Malawi marked a milestone, enabling us to utilize Master's graduates as instructors in Malawi and Zambia, furthering our ministry's reach. 1500 students currently enrolled from all over Africa and over 1000 graduates
From its humble beginnings in 2006 with 13 students, our Malawi Seminary experienced explosive growth, necessitating a second campus in 2013 to accommodate 700 students and a substantial waiting list. July 2017 marked a significant milestone with our first two Master's graduates, including the first female Master's graduate in Hands on Africa's history.
It's a profound privilege to witness God transforming the lives of these pastors and leaders, and we eagerly anticipate the Kingdom fruit they will bear. We are already hearing powerful testimonies of lives and ministries deeply impacted by their education.
Kenya was our first seminary and started in 2000 with 25 eager students that started a two-year certificate course in Pastoral Ministry. The first graduation took place in 2002 with 21 graduates.
The Zambia campus started in 2014 with 23 students.
What a wonderful experience it is to wake up in the mornings with a choir of student and children's voices singing "Good morning Jesus, Good morning Lord"! The enthusiasm and eagerness of the student at our Sierra Leone campus to learn how to serve their Savior more effectively is a true blessing. The campus started in 2009 with 36 students enrolled.
The campus in Newcastle, South Africa opened in March 2015.
The Eswatini (Previously known as Swaziland) Campus opened in 2017.
Burundi is our newest Campus that started in 2023.
Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary's invaluable contribution enables us to provide all levels of theological degrees.
In 2020 we extended our campuses to offer 3 year Associate Degrees in Learning Centers started by lecturers that have graduated at our seminary with Master Degrees. We now have 12 Learning Centers in 5 countries in Africa where 190 students meet monthly or quarterly to learn more about God’s word.
Apart from the HOA Seminary we also have a Junior High School in Sierra Leone and a Primary School in Malawi.
Education in Africa is a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change. Across the continent, schools are vital hubs where young minds are nurtured, and future leaders are shaped. Access to quality education empowers individuals, breaks cycles of poverty, and fosters sustainable development. 1 By investing in education, we invest in Africa's future, unlocking its vast potential and building stronger, more prosperous communities.
Thanks to our partners, Stitching Raise, there is a primary school with our farm - Grace Farm, mostly our farm worker’s children and children from the surrounding villages attend the primary school. The school buildings has been extended to accommodate 240 children.
The nearest secondary school is miles away from our orphanage. Most children from the surrounding villages who are fortunate to attend that school has to find a place to stay in that town. With the result that most of the girls are sexually abused by the people who provide housing for them. When we had only 2 kids in high school we paid for their daily transport. But in 2016 we had a number of children who had to go to high school. We then employed teachers and started our own
Junior high school. In 2021 we have 10 students in the Junior High School.
